KAMRA Corneal Insert surgery in Amsterdam

Posted on by Wanda in Bense

Dr. Mike Bense is invited to speak at the ESCRS KAMRA Users meeting in Amsterdam in October 2013. The following day, he will be doing a live KAMRA surgery demonstration on his dual-interface iLASIK/KAMRA Inlay technique for Presbyopia.

Dr. Bense will present a talk on centration techniques of the KAMRA Insert for presbyopia to a host of international KAMRA surgeons from around the world in Amsterdam in early October 2013. He will present a strategy for centering the corneal implant in a dual-interface technique, a technique that he adopted in his evolving surgical KAMRA approach.
Throughout the world, each KAMRA surgeon has been taught and certified by doing the basic CLK (Combined LASIK KAMRA) procedure, but evolving techniques are now being adopted throughout the world by leading KAMRA surgeons.
At Bense Vision Centre, Dr. Bense has now totally switched to the PLK2 procedure, employing a technique that involves creating 2 corneal interfaces, a 100 microns apart and implanting a KAMRA Insert on the same day. LASIK ablation is then done, leaving behind a very small residual amount of myopia (-0.25 to -0.75D) followed by insertion of the KAMRA implant.
The technique is very simple yet elegant and is very popular among our refractive surgery clients. The PLK procedure can be performed in a 2-stage event, either a few days apart or up to a month later.

Enjoy the Relaxing Atmosphere of a Family Centered Operation

At Bense Vision, we strive to create an atmosphere that is both professional and relaxing for our patients.  Dr. Michael Bense has almost two decades of experience performing laser vision correction surgery and is focused on guaranteeing that your vision is as perfect as possible long after you walk out our door.  With our extensive experience and the quality of our technology, we offer our patients the two most important aspects of laser vision correction surgery.

A Family-Focused Business

Here at Bense Vision, we are a family focused operation.  Dr. Bense is our highly qualified and experienced surgeon, and his son Dr. Jonathan Bense performs all pre-evaluations and conducts all post-operative visits.  Whenever a concern arises, either before or after your surgery, Dr. Bense is always available to meet with patients to discuss questions or concerns.  This constant access to your eye surgeon is a big part of what sets us apart from our local competition.  Dr. Bense is committed to the happiness of each patient regardless of the time of day or night.

A Knowledgeable and Positive Consultation Experience

Our certified laser coordinators take each and every consultation call to provide our patients with the opportunity to ask any questions about the procedure or clinic, and can address any concerns you may have about the clinic or your surgery.  Your consultation is the perfect time to get to know more about our clinic and why our patients are so highly satisfied and happy with our services.

As soon as you enter the Bense Vision clinic you’ll begin to relax.  Our staff will greet you at the door and provide you with everything you need to get comfortable in the reception area.  You’ll then complete several general forms before meeting with the doctor and having your eyes tested.  The first tests and scans are performed by a certified laser technician.  The results of these tests will be discussed between the patient and the doctor and information gleaned from these tests will be used to determine which procedure will most benefit the patient.

At our office, every pre-surgery consultation and testing session is performed by an actual doctor and is usually completed in less than two hours.  Other eye clinics use staff and technicians to perform initial testing and consultations, but we feel it’s important for you to meet with the doctor before you decide which procedure works best for you.  Dr. Bense will provide you with valuable information regarding your test results and potential future procedures during each consultation.

Full Education Before You Leave

Once you’ve completed your consultation, you’ll be taken on a grand tour of our facility including our laser viewing area and suite so you know exactly what to expect on the day of your procedure.  You’ll leave your consultation with all the information you need regarding your actual procedure, the cost and your recovery time.  At Bense Vision, we feel the evaluation process is an essential part of ensuring that you get the end results you want from your procedure.

Recovery Care with the Patient in Mind

After your procedure, you’ll meet with Dr. Bense to discuss the outcome and any questions you have.  Our experience indicates that you will be pleasantly surprised at how quickly you are back to normal and how comfortable and relaxed the procedure itself is.

We feel that meeting with the doctor on a regular basis is an essential part of our patient’s satisfaction, and have created an environment that is informative, relaxing and friendly.
