What is iLASIK?

The iLASIK Procedure involves three simple steps to better vision. This particular procedure allows for customization of all steps to the individual, which leads to a higher chance of success for each patient. The iLASIK Procedure is the most popular and safest laser procedure offered in North America, and is NASA and US Department of Defense approved surgery for vision correction.

Vision Correction

iLASIK can correct a variety of vision imperfections, ranging from the mild to more severe cases of:

  • Nearsightedness
  • Farsightedness
  • Astigmatism

iLASIK allows for the procedure to be customized to the individual patient and their particular vision problems.

The Results

After iLASIK, many patients are able to resume their regular activities with near-perfect vision. With the enhanced ability to customize the steps of iLASIK, patients are able to enjoy snowboarding, mountain biking and other athletic activities that were previously difficult due to vision imperfections.

Most patients report a minimum of 20/20 vision after the iLASIK procedure.

Is the Procedure Safe?

With the help of new vision correcting technologies, iLASIK is the safest and most proven vision correcting procedure performed throughout the world. iLASIK was developed after a significant amount of research, ensuring that complications and risks are low.

The procedure is performed quickly and is almost painless. Each eye takes about 10 minutes, and both eyes are treated at the same time. The procedure requires no anesthesia other than numbing drops in the eyes. You may notice a little pressure during the procedure, but most patients report no discomfort once they are done.

How is it Done?

iLASIK involves three steps that are performed while you are awake.

  • Step 1: Numbing drops are applied to both eyes, and a 3-D Wavescan Map is made of both eyes to find deformities.
  • Step 2: The IntraLase Femtosecond laser is used to create the corneal flap with tiny, laser light pulses that move through the cornea’s outer layer. The flap is then lifted away from the surface.
  • Step 3: The Visx S4IR excimer laser then corrects the vision by reshaping the cornea. The procedure is finished when the flap is securely repositioned.

The entire process takes only 10-15 minutes per eye, and your eyes will heal securely and naturally after the procedure.
